THE CHAIR exhibits every aspect of contemporary chair design, which ranges from Frank Gehry's elegant wooden chairs to the rising star Misha Kahn's cashmere single sofa with his playful imagination. All works hold a grand spectrum reflecting all participating artists’ philosophies as well as their distinguishable mediums, which extends to the artists' insights on social convention and structure. The show attracts the viewer to individually interact with the works free from the existing dichotomy between aesthetics and function.

≪THE CHAIR≫는 건축계의 거장 프랭크 게리의 우아한 나무 체어부터 떠오르는 신예 디자이너 미샤 칸의 재기발랄한 상상력이 돋보이는 캐시미어 싱글 소파에 이르기까지 현대 디자인 체어의 모든 것을 총망라하여 선보이는 자리이다. ≪THE CHAIR≫의 모든 체어는 각각 개성있는 디자인, 독특한 재료 등을 통하여 작가의 사유를 반영하는 매우 폭넓은 스펙트럼을 보인다. 이는 나아가 당대 사회적 관습과 계층 구조에 대한 작가의 통찰력을 반영하기도 한다. 본 전시는 관람객에게 기능성과 심미성이라는 아트퍼니처의 이분법적 구조로부터 벗어난 개별적인 상호작용을 유도한다.
