Zhaoyang Yin: Cold Mountain

Zhaoyang Yin: Cold Mountain is a solo exhibition by Zhaoyang Yin, a prominent Chinese contemporary artist. In this show, the artist presents his solution and the possibility of bridging modernity and tradition in China through the theme of Chinese traditional art 'san-su (mountain and river landscape).' The artist's landscape is not about capturing the magnificent scenery before his eyes, but to deliver the image of his messages, ideas, philosophy or emotions; it is not different from his previous works using social symbols and particular figures as subject. The image of mountain risen on canvas is a medium, which is an object of homage. In other word, it is not a landscape that the artist 'sees' but the artist's state of mind reinterpreting the mountain with his 'knowledge.'

인자오양: 한산

«尹朝阳: 寒山 (인자오양:한산)» 중국을 대표하는 현대 미술가 인자오양의 개인전이다. 이 전시에서 인자오양은 중국 전통 미술의 '산수(山水)'라는 주제로 중국의 현대와 전통의 맥을 이을 해결 방안과 가능성을 제시한다. 작가의 산수화는 단순히 눈 앞에 마주한 자연 경관의 절경을 담기 위함이 아니다. 이는 지금껏 그려온 인물이나 사회적 심볼이란 소재의 작품들과 마찬가지로 자신이 품고 사는 메시지, 사상, 철학 또는 감정의 모습들을 전달하기 위함이다. 캔버스에 올라선 산의 모습은 그저 하나의 매개, 오마주(homage)적 대상일 뿐이다. 다시 말해 이는 눈으로 '보는' 자연의 경관이 아닌 작가 자신의 심상 즉 '지식'을 담아 새롭게 재해석된 산의 모습을 의미한다.
