Farkhondeh Shahroudi (Tehran, Iran, 1962) is a poet and visual artist whose practice traverses a range of media, including automatic writing, onomatopoeia, drawing, video, sculpture, textiles, and photography. Through weaving and stitching diverse materials, she explores themes of exile, displacement, marginalized identities, and transculturality. In a repetitive gesture of braiding, weaving, and knotting synthetic hair, she gives sculptural form to the signs of suppressed femininity. Her sculptural forms, while loosely resembling human figures, reveal fragmented anatomies: severed limbs, proliferated appendages, and mirrored or distorted body parts that assemble into unstable, precarious presences within the space. This performative repetition visually exposes the mechanisms of control that have shaped women‘s bodies in Iranian society, becoming a silent yet forceful gesture of resistance. At the same time, it unfolds as a ritual of mourning and remembrance—an artistic invocation of loss, longing, and silenced narratives, expressed through a tactile and sculptural language.

파콘데 샤루디(테헤란, 이란, 1962)는 시인이자 시각 예술가로, 자동기술적 글쓰기, 의성어, 드로잉, 비디오, 조각, 직물, 사진 등 다양한 매체를 넘나들며 작업을 전개한다. 다양한 재료를 직조하고 바느질하는 방식을 통해 망명과 이주, 주변화된 정체성, 초월적 문화성을 탐구하며, 인조 머리카락을 땋고 엮고 매듭짓는 반복적 수행을 통해 억압된 여성성의 기호를 오브제로 형상화한다. 그녀의 오브제는 언뜻 인간의 형상을 띠지만, 자세히 들여다보면 결손 된 신체, 증식된 사지, 복제되거나 왜곡된 신체 일부들이 조합된 존재로, 이들은 공간 속에서 파편적이고 불안정한 궤적을 만들어낸다. 이 수행적 반복은 이란 사회가 여성의 몸에 가해 온 억압의 구조를 시각적으로 드러내며, 침묵 속에서 발화되는 강한 저항의 몸짓이 된다. 동시에 이는 상실과 그리움, 그리고 억눌린 서사를 촉각적이고 조형적인 언어로 호출하는 예술적 의례로 기능한다.
