Viron Erol Vert Germany, b. 1975

Viron Erol Vert (Varel, Germany, 1975) is a multidisciplinary artist of Turkish-Greek heritage who lives between Berlin and Istanbul. His hybrid cultural background and longstanding connection to Berlin’s club scene—shaped by more than two decades as a bouncer at the legendary Club Berghain—are central to his artistic practice. Drawing from his experiences and observations within diverse social structures, lifestyles, and cultures of cosmopolitan cities, he explores multifaceted realms of human instinct, desire, and sensation. For this exhibition, Vert intertwines mythological and cultural codes surrounding the moon with sound and sculptural objects, reimagining the club as a ritual landscape of invisible senses. The title The night knows many creatures, the moon bears our souls (2025) reflects his poetic contemplation on the multiplicity of the night and the moon as both vessel and mirror of the soul. Here, the moon becomes another facet of Gaia’s primal life force—symbolizing instinctual magnetism and the subtle energies of the shadow realm. Within the club’s immersive atmosphere, these sensations and intuitions are transformed into acts of healing and purification.

비론 에롤 베르트(바렐, 독일, 1975)는 베를린과 이스탄불을 기반으로 활동하는 터키 그리스계의 다학제적 작가이다. 자신의 혼종적 문화 정체성과 베를린의 전설적인 클럽, 베르크하인(Berghain)의 문지기로 20년 간 일한 경험들을 통해 형성된 베를린 클럽 신과의 깊은 인연은 그의 예술적 실천의 핵심을 이룬다. 자신의 다문화적 배경을 중심으로 대도시의 다양한 사회구조, 삶의 방식과 문화를 관찰하며 인간의 본능, 욕망, 감각의 다층적 영역을 탐구한다. 이번 전시에서 작가는 달을 둘러싼 신화적·문화적 코드와 사운드, 오브제를 결합하여 클럽이라는 비가시적 감각의 공간을 하나의 제의적 풍경으로 재구성한다. 작품 〈The night knows many creatures, the moon bears our souls(무수한 창조물을 아는 밤, 우리의 영혼을 품는 달), 2025〉는 밤의 다층성과, 영혼의 그릇이자 거울로서의 달을 향한 그의 시적 사유를 반영한다. 달은 가이아의 원초적 생명력의 또 다른 이면인 본능적인 자력과 음지의 에너지를 상징하며, 클럽의 몰입적인 분위기 속 감각의 향유와 직관은 치유와 정화의 의식으로 전환된다.
