The Page Gallery gladly presents GEORGE CONDO, the artist's solo show including multiple large-scale paintings and bronze sculptures.

For decades, Condo has depicted distorted, deconstructed human figures and images of characters familiar, yet faded in portrait paintings. The inner anxiety and brevity of humankind, which he has described with his paintings and sculptures for a long time, are the very feelings that are pervading more universally than ever. Paradoxically, now it is when we could look inside our deepest minds due to social distancing. Closing the year, the twisted portraits of GEORGE CONDO will reflect our mind sharply, but with the artist's distinct style of wit.

≪GEORGE CONDO≫展은 평단과 대중 모두의 사랑을 받아온 미국 작가 조지 콘도(b.1957)의 주요작을 아우른다. 전시에는 3미터 이상의 대형 회화 작품 다수를 비롯해, 회화, 청동 조각 등 20여 점의 작품이 선보일 예정이다.

수십 년간 콘도는 뒤틀리고 분해된 인간, 혹은 익숙하지만 빛바랜 캐릭터 등을 초상화 작업에 담았다. 그가 오랫동안 회화와 조각을 통해 이야기해온 인간 내면의 불안과 덧없음은 그 어느 때보다도 지금 많은 이들이 보편적으로 느끼고 있는 감정이다. 사회적 거리두기로 인해 역설적으로 개인의 내면을 가장 깊이 들여다볼 수 있었던 올 한 해, 연말 전시 ≪GEORGE CONDO≫의 일그러진 초상들은 통렬하게, 그러나 특유의 위트와 함께 관객의 마음을 비출 것이다.
