Deep State of Rapture is a two-person exhibition by Mat Collishaw and Mustafa Hulusi that explores the unfulfilling desire for visual stimulation and imagery addiction. The artists employ birds and grapes, which have been a common environmental subject since the ancient West, in their works by using trompe-l'oeil. The works look like a realistic representation of natural subjects, yet the context, meaning, and metaphors within the subjects are paradoxically rearranged and reconstructed to scrutinize contemporaneity. ‘깊은 황홀경’이라는 의미의 ≪Deep State of Rapture≫은 시각적인 자극과 이미지 중독성 안에서 채워지지 않는 욕구를 강조한 맥 콜리쇼와 무스타파 훌루시의 2인전인다. 두 작가는 서구의 고대시대부터 주변에서 흔히 볼 수 있었던 새와 포도라는 소재를 가지고 트롱프뢰유 기법으로 사실주의에 입각하여 자연의 부분을 그대로 재현한 것처럼 보이는 작품을 선보인다. 이들은 자연적 주제에 담긴 맥락, 의미와 비유를 역설적으로 재배치하여 동시대성을 이야기한다.
